My Mom Is Trying to Ruin My Life taps into two common plenty childhood experiences: finding parents embarrassing, and chaffing at the restrictions they impose. The agreeable, over-the-top scenarios the little girl imagines in the story will keep young listeners entertained, while the accompanying watercolor artwork by Diane Goode, who also illustrated Kate Feiffer's President Pennybaker , accentuates the humor of the text. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, more than I thought I would, picking it upwards. This adorable book captures the discussion of children's want of independence. Emma's character speaks truth to so many children her age. This volume teachers students the role their parents play in their lives. Without their parents, life would be completely dissimilar and for the worst.

This sassy book has a sense of humor that keeps it from becoming bratty. The litany of wrong-doings of both the father and mother are humorous and even children volition see right through them. Children will as well enjoy spotting the holes in her program before she realizes them herself. Her plan is painted with such broad sense of humor that it could simply be a daydream, a passing whim. Considering all children feel this way about their parents at some time, they volition relate effortlessly to the feelings on the page. Goode's illustrations nicely use the white space on the page. Purposes:
Read aloud to students in grades first through third. The linguistic communication is piece of cake to understand, then students would be able to follow along. It wouldn't accept to necessarily go with any sort of lesson, but it could be read if the students were doing some sort of project for their parents, or maybe on mother's or male parent's twenty-four hours. It's relatable because every kid gets embarrassed of their parents sometimes, merely knows they love them anyway. The teacher could enquire the students what they recall their lives would exist without their parents, or whoever takes intendance of them, and if they could live without them. I'm certain most of the students would agree they wouldn't want to live without their loved ones. This is a good book to bear witness how much parents do for their kids, and how appreciative kids should be to their parents.
Kids will enjoy this book because the illustrations are funny and engaging, and they will want to observe out all the crazy ideas the girl comes upwardly with to run abroad.
